Re: Errors - Request aborted/Remote name not resolved

Hi Huangwh88, Looks like you came across some sort of internet connection glitch and/or overload. Tickstory typically automatically recovers from this error by retrying to download the data. The next time you download the same date range the error should no longer appears. If it does, just ensure y...

Re: control point testing

Hi Huangwh88, MT4 will generated the FXT file for the time-frame you have selected (in your example, H4). This will contain the individual OHLC control points/ticks which are taken from the HST files that are generated by Tickstory. If you make any reference to a time-frame other than H4 in your co...

Re: control point testing

Hi Huangwh88, You are correct - when you select the 'Control point' modelling method in the MT4 Strategy Tester, MT4 will automatically generate the FXT data from the historical chart data (HST files). This means that you will continue to benefit from the Tickstory data you have exported and source...

Re: multiple instances of mt4

thanks for clarifying, tickstory.

One more thing, for the 'Single-User license (up to 2 machines)', if I run one instance of tickstory on my home PC, and 2 more instances on a VPS, will there be issues?

Re: multiple instances of mt4

Hi Huangwh88, This seems like a feasible solution assuming you are running the two Tickstory instances simulataneously. Regards. hi tickstory, Must there be 2 instances of tickstory running simultaneously? Suppose I only have 1 instance of tickstory running, and I complete the data export and launc...

multiple instances of mt4

Hello, I'm using tickstory 1.8.3 and wondering if the following plan is workable. The idea is to have 2 instances of mt4 running simultaneously to speed up the testing process. 1) For mt4 instance 1, fill up the corresponding data and installation folder details in tickstory. Export the data to the ...

control point testing

Hi Tickstory, I have exported the required tick data but I wish to test with control points for some basic optimizations. I read from a previous thread that 'The Tickstory launch process suppresses the generation of the FXT files which are used for the actual back-test in the selected modelling type...

Re: Embedding spread when exporting

Hello Huangwh88, Regarding your questions: 1) Selecting 'Embed spread' when you haven't launched with TDS has no effect and simply utilises the spread specified in the Strategy Tester's 'spread' box. 2) The spread value that is in the 'MT4 Settings' tab is there for backward-compatibility purposes....
