Utilizing my parameters in empty 4 I previously had positive net profits after usalizing tick story at 99% accuracy. I showed no profits. I've tried to rework the parameters as much as I can. But nothing. Also I am Using a Expert Advisor
I wanted to start my daily trading at the exact time of the London New York.Overlap and stop my trading fifteen minutes prior to the close of that twenty four hours. So I set my Time Parameters
FOR 15:00/14:45 Start and close. The new tech store gave me the option to choose g. MT plus 3 Saint Petersburg. Moscowl, but does not allow me to acquire the data for specifically this time. Can someone help me to understand why I see no profits and how I can fix this problem?
Thank you

Hi Steven,
There can be a marked difference in an EA's results which is why using tick data over MT4's default one-minute data offers the best way to see how your EA may perform in a live situation. We cannot offer specific help with your EA however we can offer some general advice to determine the problem:
There can be a marked difference in an EA's results which is why using tick data over MT4's default one-minute data offers the best way to see how your EA may perform in a live situation. We cannot offer specific help with your EA however we can offer some general advice to determine the problem:
- Compare the first few trades of your MT4 data test versus Tickstory's. What do you note? Are the trade entry points the same? If no, why not? Are the profits the same? You need to carefully examine the reasons why there is a difference so you can understand why it is trading differently. Often, EAs tested on 1-minute data can show a "best case" entry, whereas in reality, they may have entered at a worse position intra-candle. This will only be apparent when testing with tick data. EAs that trade often such as scalpers are particularly vulnerable to showing erroneous results when testing on one-minute data.
- Try setting the "Spread" value in the MT4 Strategy Tester to a fixed value. If the spread is set to "Current", the Strategy Tester will use the last available spread from your broker which can change between tests, causing your results to also change.
- As you become more familiar with your EA's behavior under certain conditions, you can use our Advanced Tester (which is included as part of your subscription) to test even more in-depth with variable spreads and slippage. This will likely change your results further as it employs additional real-life conditions that your EA must be able handle to remain profitable.
- Why is my trading system behaving differently when using Tickstory data (as opposed to MT4 broker data)?
- How does Tickstory by-pass Metatrader's 1-minute data limitation so it can use tick data?
- Is there any value in back-testing? What is the advantage of using tick data?
- What are the limitations back-testing with tick data?
